Hester Smith CHURCH HILL, TN OBITUARY NOTICE Church Hill, TN Hester Smith, of Church Hill passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Church Hill Health Care and Rehab following an extended illness. She departed her earthly home surrounded by her family and friends for her Heavenly home that she had always visioned and worked for. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Hester was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cook. She will be remembered for her famous fried pies that she loved to share with family and friends. She was a substitute teacher for several years at McPheeters Bend Elementary School. All her students remember her for bringing them sugar cubes. She also wrote advertisements for Sears and Roebuck Company in her younger years. She is preceded in death by her husband; Daniel Smith, an infant son, several brothers and sisters. Son-in-law; Ray Waites. Survivors include her daughter, Thelma Waites, Son; Jeff Smith and wife Sandra. Two grandchildren; Lisa Lawson and husband, Michael and Daniel Waites and wife, Jane. Four great grandchildren, sister-in-law; Carrie Crawford. Several special nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the McPheeters Bend Cemetery with Pastor Regina Shelton and Rev. Mark Roberts officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the Johnson Funeral Home at 1:45 PM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends anytime at the residence of her son, Jeff and Sandra Smith. The family would like to thank the staff of the Church Hill Health Care and Rehab for their loving care and kindness to their mother.
