Rev. Hugh D. Ratledge Johnson Funeral Home Church Hill, TN 423 357-4113 CHURCH HILL – Rev. Hugh Dean Ratledge, 76, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 16, 2014 following an extended illness. He was a native of Maryville, TN and had lived in Hawkins County for the past 54 years. He was a member of Amis Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an ordained United Methodist Minister serving as pastor in the Methodist Church for 25 years. Hugh served his country in the naval branch of the military. He was a former police officer with the City of Kingsport. He was a retired employee of AFG Industries in Church Hill. One of his favorite pastimes was farming. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. J. T. And Mary Long Ratledge, two brothers, Glenn and Gene Ratledge and one sister, Ann; one granddaughter, Tara. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Imogene Cooper Ratledge, Church Hill; two daughters, Tammy Ward and husband Marty and Rhonda Housewright and husband, Roger; four grandchildren, Zachary and Kayla Peters, Kelsey and Rylie Housewright; three step great-grandchildren, Raven and Rheanna Duncan and Rylie Ward; one brother, Wayne Ratledge and wife, Merlene along with a special brother-in-law, Roy Cooper; in addition he leaves behind several sister and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Services will be conducted Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Castle officiating. Graveside services with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard and Tennessee National Guard will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Ratledge, Dale Housewright, Roy Cooper, Robert Cooper, Sean Chambers and Clarence Conant. The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
