ROGERSVILLE- J.C. Ward, born December 10, 1936, departed this life for his heavenly home on Friday (June 27, 2014). He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was retired from Eastman Kodak Company after 30 years of service. Mr. Ward was a member of Grassy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Belle and Joe Ward, Infant sister, Mildred, Infant brother, Charles, brothers, Ralph and Robert Ward. He is survived by his wife of 46 (July 13) years, Geneva Mathews Ward, daughter, Sherry Ward Gentry and her husband Ronald of Church Hill, grandchildren, Dustin Dwain Gentry and Maranda Ranee Gentry, sisters, Myrtle Barrett of Surgoinsville, Pauline Ward, Bonnie Simpson, and Louise McLain, all of Rogersville, brothers, G.W. Ward of Rogersville, and Eugen Ward of Chattanooga. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dave Morelock officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Benton Cemetery. Everyone attending is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gentry, Dustin Gentry, Chad Lumpkins, Tony Huskie, Jack Davis, Steven Scharmuhau, and Dakota Owens. Honorary bearer will be Joseph Ward. The family would like to thank the Church Hill EMS, Mark Holt and Randy Delph, the Doctors and Nurses at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their excellent care.
