Church Hill, TNJean D. Monroe, age 72, of Church Hill passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.Mrs. Monroe was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, she graduated from the Church Hill High School, and attended Valley View Missionary Baptist Church and Morning Star Baptist Church. She retired from the Tennessee Eastman Recreation Department in 1997 with 29 years of service.She is preceded death by her son; Les D. Monroe in 1998, her parents; Edward P. "Pete" Monroe and Anna B. Hensley Monroe, sister; Ethel E. Linkous.Survivors include her husband of54 years, James W. Monroe of the home, son; Ronald L. Monroe of Church Hill, grandchildren; Kayla E. Adams and husband, Daniel, Madison B. Monroe & David Brickey, great grandchildren; Kylar Monroe Adams and Norah Mae Ann Brickey, sister; Evelyn Bradshaw of Church Hill, brother; Rev. Joe E. Monroe and wife Rita of Church Hill, brother-in-law; Joe Linkous of Church Hill, sister-in-laws; Ethel Surcey, Helen Emigholz, Doris & John Johnson and Geneva Cobb. Special uncle, Earl E. & Joan Sue Hensley, special family members; Carroll & Faye Tunnell, Ray & Pricilla Adams, Bill & Ann Hutson, Jim & Peg Taylor and Betty & Ed Whittaker, Breakfast buddies; Sally Kirby and Sharon Hurd, several special nieces, nephews and cousins. Her special dog, Shasta.Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence.Funeral services will be conducted 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Terry Mellons and Rev. Allen Jervey officiating.Graveside services will be conducted 11 am Saturday at the Morning Star Cemetery. Family and Friends wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 am to go in procession to the cemetery.Pallbearers will be, Michael W. Bradshaw, Larry Bradshaw, David Bradshaw, Jr., Jeff Monroe, B.J. Hutson and Michael Yates.
