CHURCH HILL – Jeanne Britton Cary, 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at her residence.
Jeanne was a resident of Church Hill & member of First United Methodist Church where she was the organist for over 30 years. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She attended East Tennessee State University and was a former member of Fairview O. E. S. #80. Jeanne also was the owner and operator of Hill Style Shop. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening, and attending her Church Circle. She had a gift for making the simplest things special and she will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cary; parents, William Phipps and Ruth Brown Britton; brother, William Phipps Britton Jr.; grandson, Jason.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Carolyn Jeanne Long of Camilla, GA, D. Akard Smith Jr. (Susan) of Boca Raton, FL, and Frances Ruth Smith of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, James Long, Daphne Regan, Richard Phipps Smith, Ruth Camielle, Jeanne Elizabeth, and William Phipps Britton III; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Cadence, Andy, Garret, Ethen, Brianna, Thomas, Gabriel, and Riley.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Church Hill. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM with Rev. Josh Kilbourne officiating. The burial will follow to Harrell Cemetery at Surgoinsville United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Church Hill.
