CHURCH HILL – Jeff Ernest Patterson 90, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 24, 2018.
Jeff asked Christ into his heart at thirteen. As a young father he prayed that God would bless him with the strength and ability to provide for his family. God honored that request. Jeff was a wonderful provider and a source of wisdom and strength to many.
Jeff was born in Church Hill, Tennessee on December 15, 1927. Jeff served in the Navy during WW II and finished his service career after the war. He returned to work at the Kingsport Press and worked there for forty-four years, before retiring from management in the binding department.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jeff advised and encouraged many to follow their God given abilities which helped them find their path.
He was preceded in death by his parents Allie and Alpha Patterson; Brothers George, Coy, Tom and Hugh Patterson; Sons, Ernie and Shannon Patterson; Daughter, Sheila Shugart; One son Brent K. Patterson missing since 1986; Grandson, Jed Patterson and Precious Wife, Viola of 68 years.
Left to cherish his memory are daughter and Son-in-law Debra and Craig Hoyme; brother and sister, John Patterson and Bonnie Barr; grandchildren, Darla J. Patterson, Yizzien M. Olonrae, Dustin, Corey, & Jeff Shugart, Taylor & Hunter Patterson; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Toschlog, Maiya, Logan, and Makinzee Shugart.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel with Mike Stout officiating. Military graveside will follow to Goshen Valley Cemetery.
