Dad did his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC starting in August of 1969. I believe this photo was taken prior to him shipping off to Vietnam.

Brenda and to all the families, I am so sorry to learn of Jerry's passing. He was a dear friend and VVA 979- chapter member whom I enjoyed working with in our association. I am so proud of all his services to our country and his accomplishments. His call to duty and dedication should never be forgotten. I know you and family are very grateful for Jerry, also I know it's been a very trying period for everyone. My prayers be with you all and God bless each and everyone. RIP my brother.................

I have lots of great memories being with Jerry Allen McLain. So many times we met and talked together at Eastman, my home, his home, and up in Botetourt County Virginia hunting. He always had a special smile and a very kind heart. I will truly miss him but I'm going to meet him again on the bright shores of our heavenly home. I thank him for his dedication and bravery for serving our country for so many years.

My thoughts and prays to you and the family. I got to know Jerry through Ben Hawkins. I enjoyed knowing Jerry; I remember the time Ben, Jerry and myself put the eagle on top of the flagpole at your home. And the many stories about him at the Eastman Fire Department. He will be missed very much
