HAMPTON – Jo Ann Keith Bond, 87, born October 11, 1931, departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2019, to enter her eternal reward.

She married her decorated WW II hero, Ralph “Blackie” Bond. They shared six life-loving children together. After raising her family, she earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing at ETSU. She worked as an RN with her career spanning over 35 years and retired from Mountain Home VA. Her life was full of gardening, antiquing, flea markets, and traveling.

Jo Ann was famous for her green beans and cornbread. She loved to share the bounty of her garden and welcomed everyone to her table. She was the queen of hospitality and all of who knew her were blessed. In this, her life was truly a reflection of God’s love for others.

Her new residence is in heaven reuniting with her parents, John and Hulda Keith; daughter, Karen DePew; sisters, Leota Viers, Reba Kelly, Audrey Burke, and Lucille Skeens; brothers, Homer Keith, Ray Keith, Elmo Keith, and Melver Keith; special nephews (like brothers) Fred and Howard Keith.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ralph “Blackie” Bond; children, Pamela Rose (Ed), Sherri Davis, Johnny Bond (Terri), Bradley Bond, and Shyanna Bond; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sister, Ruby Ring (Warren); special nephew (like a brother) Charles Burke; lots of special nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

While our hearts are broken, we know her strength is renewed as the eagles. Isaiah 40:31

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chad Roberts officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17 at Elm Springs Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 PM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
