CHURCH HILL – Our Heavenly Father welcomed Joan “Joni” C. McGhee, 83, on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Joni was born on Jan. 20 during the 1937 flood in Aurora, IN, to the late Carl & Loretta Kaster.

As a member of First Baptist Church, Church Hill, she loved her sweet “Helping Hands” Sunday School class and cherished the precious relationships built within her church family. Her flower gardens were her pride and therapy along with sitting in her swing with a good book and enjoying her birds. She loved the time she spent with family & friends, watching basketball and being Steph Curry’s biggest fan.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Loretta Kaster, her brother, Tom, and her best little furry friend, Mack. She is survived by her son, Scott Rountree and wife, Sherrie; granddaughters, Carla Ford (husband, Jeremy) and Ashley Rountree; her special great grandsons, Ryder and Mason Ford, and several nieces, nephew and many extended family and friends.

Out of respect for those vulnerable to COVID-19, a virtual service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Gerhardt officiating. To view the service live, please go to www.johnsonarrowood.com and click on her obituary page at 4:00 PM on Monday and it will be below the obituary. If you are not able to watch the service at 4:00 PM, it will be uploaded by 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 5 or we can mail you a DVD of the funeral service. Joni’s wish was to be cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joni’s memory to First Baptist Church of Church Hill, 202 E. Main Blvd., Church Hill, TN 37642.
