Surgoinsville, TNJ. R. Amis, age 79, of Surgoinsville, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. J.R. was a lifelong resident of Surgoinsville, and was a member of the Amis Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a retired concrete finisher and was a veteran of the United States Army.He is preceded in death by his parents; Joe Amis and Oma Jane Calton Amis, sisters; Dorain Fields.Survivors include his companion; Patricia L. Davis of Surgoinsville, daughter; Pam Collier of Surgoinsville, step-son; Dewey Davis of Surgoinsville, grandchildren; Angela Collier, Susan Estes and James “J.J.” Collier, Jr.,Taylor LeAnn Davis, 9 great grandchildren, sister; Lena Crigger of Rogersville, and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Memorial service will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
