I don’t know where to start but I appreciated everything John powers had done for me. I was beyond blessed to know him and to sing with him. He taught me to sing and helped me practice and I learned so many things from him. It’s sad that he is no longer with us but he is still in our hearts and in Heaven singing to us all. He will definitely be missed by so many loved ones.

I really don’t know where to begin and describing the depths of love I have for John! He was truly a wonderful man of God! He and I go way back to our years of getting our masters degree at Virginia Tech. We enjoyed singing together, laughing and enjoying life. Hard to imagine a life without John even now yes I’ve gone on and gotten married and have children and grandchildren, but there’s nothing like first love there’s nothing like being blessed by God with a man like John when we showed up in Coburn Virginia in the fall of 1980 people kind of wondered if we were married because we hung out together so much and we just kind of showed up and covered Virginia at the same time because we were in the teacher court project. Those were great years That I will never forget that I have tried to forget. Doesn’t it enjoy teaching with John I enjoyed singing with John and the choir singing with John and funerals hard to believe he’s gone in years. John and I continue to be friends through the Internet and sharing in the loss of his dear cousin, who also was my friend Nancy Bowie, Carter , John and I reconnected during that time and shared a lot of love for the Lord and how we had moved on and God is blessed our lives. I’m grateful thank you so much Lucy and Peggy for streaming the funeral. It was a wonderful gift you gave me and many other people that watched it as I said on the couch with my husband hand in hand Don cried more than I did , he cried because he wish he met John and cried because I had that joy of knowing him so I say a special prayer for all those of us who have loved him and will continue to love him and fraternity seeing God‘s praises with John maybe someday we’ll have a voice just as beautiful, but one thing we know That Voice worship lives on ! See you soon! Your Forever Friend! Linda

John was a gentle giant with a wonderful voice. He was always surrounded by a large group of friends and was actively helping many of them by providing realistic advice, transportation and financial assistance. We have lost a good friend; but can rejoice in the knowledge, that thanks to John, Heaven is just a little better place.
