John E. Taylor CHURCH HILL- John E. Taylor, 86, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home. Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II, where he received the following commendations; European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal, Rifleman-Sharpshooter, Bronze Star Medal, and Combat Inf. Badge. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 9754 and American Legion Post #21. He retired after 45 years of service from Kingsport Press as a general foreman of distribution in the Hawkins County plant. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, George Ellis (Jo) Marsh Taylor, parents, Samuel L. Taylor and Margaret Lee Taylor, brothers; S.L. Taylor, James T. Taylor, Sisters; Agnes Taylor, Rosa Lee Taylor, Josephine Christian, sister-in-law, Maybelle Taylor, great grand- children, Chancey and Grace Holtzclaw. He is survived by two loving daughters, Marsha Cox and husband, David, Susan Holtzclaw, and husband, Ron of Kingsport, four grandsons; Michael Holtzclaw and wife, Cindy of Kathleen, GA, Aaron Holtzclaw and wife, Pam, Brent Holtzclaw and wife, Rochelle, Nathan Cox and wife, Sherry of Kingsport, eight great grandchildren; Peyton, Taylor, Kayley, Ella, and Eli Holtzclaw, Mia and Layla Cox, Kiran Strickland, one sister, Margaret T. Hilliard, sister-in-law, Barbara Bettino, several nieces and nephews, and special best friend, Charles Edward Wagner. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM At Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Victor Wallace, lifetime friend, officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted Thursday following the service. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Edward Wagner We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Brenda Depew, Stella Conant, and Mary Snapp for the special care you gave to our father.
