"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."CHURCH HILL- Joyce Dobbs, age 86 went to walk with the Angels on Sunday, June 14, 2015 after an extended illness and stay at Holston Manor.Joyce was born and raised in McPheeters Bend Community and was a lifelong member of McPheeters Bend Baptist Church and served in many capacities such as Sunday School Teacher, Girls Auxiliary Leader and was always a faithful servant of the Lord. Raised in the country, she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and quilting for her family and friends as well as traveling and having family gatherings.She pursued many career paths but was most proud of her insurance sales work, because she felt rewarded knowing she helped provide family’s needs. She was also nationally recognized with many awards in the insurance company, but she was most proud of her family.She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dobbs; grandson, Bradley Marshall; her parents, Neal and Viola McCracken; brothers, Clyde (C. E.) McCracken, Billie McCracken and infant brother, Lucian McCracken.Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Patricia Wagers and Angelina Marshall and husband, Jimmy, sons, Mark Dobbs and wife, Teressa, all of Church Hill; Edwin (Ed) Dobbs and wife, Diane, Kingsport; her precious grandchildren, Angie Arnold and husband, Dale, Joy McLain and husband, Joe, Dustin Dobbs and wife, Lauren, Hillary Powell and husband, Bert, Ashley McVey and husband, Joe, David Dobbs, great grandchildren, Stephanie Marshall, Christina and Susie Arnold, Jolee Ann and Noel McLain and Joseph McVey, one great-great grandson, Bentley, one sister, Kathleen Taylor, Church Hill, many nieces, nephews and cousins, special roommate at Holston Manor, Mrs. Margaret Strickler and family.A special thanks to Holston Manor staff (200 Wing) for their dedicated care, and a special thanks to Eddie Short for his support of Patricia Wagers and other family members.Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her daughter, Patricia Wagers, 124 California Ave., Church hill, TN.Services will be conducted Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
