CHURCH HILL – Joyce Louise Trent, 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at her residence.

Joyce was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. She was a member of Mt. Mitchell Church but attended Bradshaw Chapel for the last 10 years. She never met a stranger and loved sewing, fishing, and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Graice and Claude Pratt; 2 husbands, Charles Garfield Simpson and C.D. Trent; son, Freddy Simpson; daughter, Lorraine Morrison, 2 son-in-laws, Rex Morrison and Michael Snapp; and granddaughter-in-law, Kristi Snapp.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Deborah Snapp; son, Tim Simpson (Tammy); 3 grandsons, Douglas Snapp (Samantha), Charles Snapp (Marlena), and Justin Simpson; step grandson, Eric Roberts; 4 great grandkids, Ethan, Autumn, Grayson, and Maggie Snapp; 3 step great grandkids, Madison, Macey, and Andrew Warren; 3 sisters, Dorothy Taylor (Elbert), Elizabeth “Pud” Wallen, and Zinda Shelton (Perman); niece, Teresa Simpson (Jon); special brother-in-law, Clifford Simpson; special friend, Emily Franklin; along with several nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Ed McLain and Rev. Rex McMurray officiating. The burial will follow to Mt. Mitchell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to thank Smokey Mountain Hospice for all they did for their mom, especially Carey, Hanna, Mike, Holly, Melissa, Susan, and Pam.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Mitchell Cemetery C/O Melissa Smith P.O. Box 1605 Mt. Carmel, TN 37645.
