I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Our sweet mom Mary Belle Arnold, sadly passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the age of 89. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was born on October 28, 1934. Mary worked several jobs over the years but taking care of others was her true calling. She enjoyed volunteering at the Community Clothes Closet and visiting residents at the nursing home.
Mary was a lifelong member of McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on many committees through the years. She especially loved visiting and having bible study with people who were no longer well enough to attend church.
Mary married the love of her life, Carl Arnold, Jr. on December 22, 1951. When he was in the army and stationed in San Francisco, CA., Mary made the long journey just to be with him. They loved sitting on the front porch and enjoying each other’s company for the next 62 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Nannie Hutson; husband, Carl Arnold, Jr.; two sisters, Bertie Arnold, and Sally McDowell, two brothers, Ray Hutson, and Clinton Hutson; and half-sister, Blanche Salley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rick Arnold (Josh Wright), Sondra Summey (Jon); and her grandson, Brody Summey, the light of her life.
Also surviving is a very special half sister and best friend, Ilene Way; half sister, Gladys Mowdy; and half-brother, James Hutson. Mary is also survived by several other family members; and her sweet dog “Little Boy”. Who brought so much joy into her life.
The family would like to thank Church Hill Rehab for their loving care during her short stay.
A graveside service will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at McPheeters Bend Community Cemetery with Pastor Mark Roberts Officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM.
