I knew Mervin from his days at TVA's John Sevier Steam Plant. He guarded the place. He was always professional, but a pleasure to talk to about "off the job" things, too. I haven't seen him in recent years, but I hope he's up there slam dunking on Wilt on one of Heaven's basketball courts!

Mr. Johnson was a very special person to my mother Kathy L. Carpenter, whom passed February 2013. Before she passed he spent a lot of time with her. He took her to plays, art festivals and introduced her into a world that I don't think she would have met if it wasn't for him..He was a magnificent person. I truly adored him..we love you Merve..you will be missed. Erica..I am very sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself and your family..may you be blessed.

Merv you were my very best friend. I'm glad our season tickets seats at the Kingsport mets stadium allowed us to get to know one another. I'm glad we had the chance to go fishing. how many times did I lose those rubber worms and break those fishing strings. I'm glad for our walks.you were the most blunt person I ever met. You were a hard worker and always arrived early so you didn't miss anything.y you had the best laugh...loud and contagious.you were always secretly helping others when in need.you lived a private life that was respected and never interfered in others business.i loved your jazz music and your singing voice was the most beautiful voice.i know you loved pops.you were just a great listener.you always protected those weaker than you. You were my angel.watch over me from heaven and keep me safe.i love you eternally! Tarrah O'Riley boy

Merv was a great guy. We attended KC (Class of 1975) together and played football. Because of his basketball skills, we called him, "The Dealer." RIP!

To the Johnson family in try my sorry for the loss of of Mervin. I got to know him through our work although it was a short time but memeorable. He always had a smile on his face and was pleasant to have conversation with. We used to talk about music all the time. We had the same passion in collecting music of all sorts. Just wanted to share my memories of him. Your family are in my prayers.
