Born in 1953, the honorable Michael Anthony Faulk thought long and hard about everything. He thought about how good snow felt under his skis, how rocking chairs were the remedy for most ailments and how good a Pal's peanut butter milkshake tastes on a hot or cold day. He thought about craftsmanship and the importance of completing a task right the first time. As he completed building his traditional log cabin, he thought about the importance of enjoying the fruits of one's labor. There, in his sanctuary in the woods, he thought about how the wind through the trees was God’s breath. There he thought about how the deer he hunted would nourish his body as God nourished his soul. He thought about how silence is perhaps more powerful than words. He thought about the situations of others and how he could help improve the lives of both friends and strangers alike. He thought deeply about his own parents, teachers and mentors and about how his life was a reflection of them. He thought about his own humanity and about how to right any of his wrongs. As a Circuit Court Judge, State Senator, County Commissioner, City Attorney and country lawyer, he thought about how to serve the folks of Tennessee whom he loved and respected deeply. He thought about his faithful dog Reuben who provided him with constant companionship. He thought about the importance of friendship and how lucky he was to have those precious relationships. He thought about his loving family and how he could pest them just enough to show how much he cared. He thought about his children whom he was proud of and raised well. He thought about his tender wife and how grateful he was to be able to have her on his arm. Most of all he thought about God, whom his life and death would be pale without Mike is survived by friends and family, far and wide who will contemplate how they can learn just as much from his death as they did from his life. Friends are invited to join Mike's family to celebrate his life at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Friday, November 14th. Visitation will begin at 3 PM to be directly followed by a memorial service beginning at 7 PM with Dr. Randy Pressnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly requested to be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast, TN (1020 Jericho Drive, Kingsport, TN, 37663) or to the Tennessee Judicial Conference Foundation, in memory of Mike Faulk.
