CHURCH HILL – Odell Lyttle, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at her son’s home surrounded by her family.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.

She was born in Church Hill, May 19, 1938 to the late Rufus Short and Maggie Carey Short. She graduated from Church Hill High School and worked for Volunteer High School. She lived in Texas for several years where she met her husbands, Ernest Marion Kinard and Charles Armstrong Ly ttle, Sr. She was a faithful member of First Church of God Goshen Valley.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James F. and Lizzie Carey and Mitch and Annie Short; stepmother, Lula Mae Short; infant twin brother, Marcel; infant sister, Velma; sisters, Ina Bowlin and Ruth McLain; brother, Audley Short.

Left to Cherish her memory are her sons, Charles “Chuck” Lyttle, Jr. (Lori) and Leroy Marshall Lyttle (Jessica); grandchildren, Jordan Lyttle, Alyssa Lyttle, Holly Hunt, Trevor Hunt, Aaron Gilliam, Alyssa Stallings, and Dalton Witten; sisters, Claudette Jones, Barbara Britton, and Shirley Fugate; brother, Freddy Short along with a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Charles Heater officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Wellmont Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Shipstone, Jean, Mary, and also Jackie Reeves and Suncrest Hospice.
