KINGSPORT – Randall “Randy” Paul Monroe, 71, passed away on February 27, 2019 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Randy was born in Johnson City, TN on August 2, 1947 to John Paul Monroe and Sarah Emma Monroe. Randy served our country in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for the City of Church Hill for a number of years. Randy really enjoyed his job, he received awards from the city for Employee of the year for the sewer department and an Appreciation Award for his work on the Veterans Memorial. He enjoyed camping, car shows, wood working, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, John and Sarah Monroe; sister, Betty Lamar Brotherton.

Randy is survived by his wife, Frances Monroe; son, Randall David Monroe (Misty); daughter, Lisa Gilliam (Junior); two very special grandsons, Garrett and Tyler Gilliam; sisters, Sharon Gardner (Hubert), Vicki Duncan (Dennis), and Jenny Housewright (Mike); special friends, Josh Webb and Dr. Terry Forrest of the VA; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home or anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Cody and Rev. Junior Gilliam officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 2 at Morning Star Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Gilliam, Tyler Gilliam, Dave Monroe, Josh Webb, Josh Swinney, Howey Norris, Allan Williams, and Cody Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Neal Jaynes and Riley Jaynes.
