KINGSPORT – Rica Duane (Rick) Skelton passed away at Holston Valley Medical Center Wednesday, July 17, 2019, after several years of declining health.

After graduating from Church Hill High School in 1973 he followed his dream of playing southern rock music for several years including a tour with the “Doc Holiday Band” in the United States and Europe. Rick loved and lived the music. He was a talented artist and creative writer. Rick was all heart. He loved playing guitar, reading and spending time talking with friends and family.

He was born July 1, 1955 to the late Dorothy (Christian) and Homer Skelton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie and Ethel Skelton and Bert and Maude Christian along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by Susan Calhoun, his partner and loyal caregiver, Brothers: Sherrell and wife Karen; Vim and wife Debbie; Aunts: Fannie Arnold; Newana Christian and Uncle: Eddie Skelton; and several cousins.

A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2019. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM with Dr. Rebekah Cote officiating. The burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers please support and attend a live music concert in Rick’s memory.
