CHURCH HILL- Roger Carroll Smith, 63, passed away on Tuesday (August 5, 2014) at his residence. Roger was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. His passion was serving on the mission field where he served 8 different times including Venezuela and Jamaica. His life was wrapped around his daughters and grandchildren. Mr. Smith also enjoyed fishing and watching baseball games. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Smith, Jr. and Thelma Parker Smith, and infant brother, Earl Smith. He is survived by his wife of 43 years this Thursday, Margaret Ann Ward Smith, daughters, Vickie Skelton and husband, Mark, Lisa Smith, and Debbie Evans, brother, Burl Smith and wife, Sherry, sisters, Shirley Christian and husband, Glynn, Margie Hutson and husband, Donnie, Kathie Epps and husband, Wayne, Mary Emmett and husband, George, three grandchildren, Emily and Rachel Skelton, and Isaac Evans, sisters in law, Jeanne Dye and husband, Alan, and Linda Whaley, brother in law, Rick Ward, and special aunt, Carrie Crawford. Calling hours are from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Fred Holcomb and Pastor Glen Bradley officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at McPheeters Bend Church Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M. to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Isaac Evans, Hunter Jones, Heath Smith, George Emmett, Gary Hoyt, and Harvey Hall. Honorary bearers will be Haskall Jones, Mike Bishop, Carl Seaver, Ray Thompson, John Anderson, and Ronnie Housewright. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Burem Baptist Church, Jamaica Mission Trip Fund, in c/o Pastor George Bradley.
