Kingsport, TNRonald G. Smith, age 67, of Kingsport, TN passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Holston Valley Hospital following an extended illness.Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army 25th Infantry having served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968 and receiving the Purple Heart during his service. He was a retired Orthopedic Technician from the Holston Valley Hospital.He is preceded in death by his parents; Grover Smith and Emma Roberts Smith, sister; Brenda Bowen and brother; Jerry Smith.Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Smith of the home. Two sons; Michael Smith and his wife, Debbie of Rogersville, Ronnie Smith of Kingsport, daughter; Kristi Hill and husband, Ashley of Mount Carmel. Grandchildren; Tyler Smith, Drew Hill, Lauren Smith, Shelby Hill and Ryan Smith, great grandchild; Camden Smith. Brother; Terry Smith and wife Faye of Church Hill, sisters; Velma Freeman of Kingsport and Arlene Smith of Ohio. Several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronald Manis officiating.Military entombment services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm at the Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard.
