Steve Cavin was true friend. He grew up a couple of streets from me near Jere Whitson School where my mom taught. We remained friends while at Tennessee Tech. Many years later Steve helped feed my family when we and I had four kids in 6 years. Tight didn't adequately describe our budget. Steve worked in Danner Foods' (Shoney's Parent Company's) Home Office. He helped us become secret shoppers at Shoney's. That may not sound like much to you but it was HUGE for our family. Eating out wasn't affordable. Getting paid to eat at Shoney's was a great blessing, especially on kids eat free night. I'm saddened to hear of his passing. Wayne McDonald Brentwood Tennessee

I’ve lost one of my best friends. For 38 years we have been sidekick with trips, cars, boats and most importantly both of our families have treated us like brothers. Steve will leave a big hole in a lot of lives. You know when you have a friend when they have nothing left to prove and Steve had nothing left to prove He will live on in my heart. Made God comfort him.

May the peace of our Lord that passes all understanding be with you now and stay with you always. I worked with Steve back in his Shoney's days. As a new graduate out of college, Steve took the time to explain if I started saving right then for retirement how much money I would have in retirement. Funny thing was at the time, Shoney's did even have a retirement plan, but thanks to Steve, I started one anyway. His words carried meaning and true caring. His lesson lives on in my children. My gratitude to him for many lessons and guidance. He will be remembered and missed. My condolences for your loss.

Kay and Catherine, I am part of Steve's cardiac rehab group. I am devastated at the loss of Steve as is everyone in our group. We had been missing Steve while he was in the hospital and now Steve's "spot" will be empty forever. I know what a strong believer Steve was and am confident he's with his Savior and completely well and happy. Blessings and prayers for the two of you while you grieve your loss. Your wonderful memories will keep Steve with you always. Sarah Jones
