KINGSPORT – Velma Louise Wallace, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Wallace was a native of Wise County, VA, and had lived majority of her life in Church Hill before moving to Kingsport in 2012. She retired from Kingsport Press Distribution. She was one of the oldest living members of First Freewill Baptist Church of Church Hill. She was a loving wife, mother, & grandmother & enjoyed the company of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C. “Dick” Wallace; parents, Bob Martin Collins & Venus Hazel (Childress) Collins; son-in-law, Stewart Hicks.
Survivors include daughter, Velma Hicks; sons, Danny Wallace (Teressa), Bobby Wallace (Kim), & Greg Collins; grandchildren, Tammy Walser (Robbie), Kristi Jeffers (Scott), Lindsey Holt (Ted), Grant Wallace, Kaileigh Deckert (Tony), Austin Wallace (Addison), & Brandy Dettor (Chris); 9 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne Collins, brother-in-law, Victor Wallace (Dot); several nieces & nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mitch Russell & Rev. Victor Wallace officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 11 at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Grant Wallace, Austin Wallace, Bradley Jeffers, Adam Jeffers, Alex Jeffers, Dylan Walser, Kevin Collins, Tony Deckert, & Mark Derrick.
