CHURCH HILL – Mrs. Anna Ruth Lloyd, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Anna Ruth was born in Castlewood, VA, and lived most of her life in Church Hill. She was a 1962 graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School. Anna Ruth was the bookkeeper at Church Hill Middle School for 35 years. She loved her job, her school family and the many kids she met over the years. She was a wonderful, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ella Austin; brother, Gilmer Austin; and her nephew, Jerry Jr.
Anna Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Doug Lloyd; daughters, Teresa Lloyd-Saylor (David), and Susan McCracken (Keith); son, Joel Lloyd; grandsons, Jason McCracken (Alex) and Joshua McCracken (Gabby); 5 great grandchildren; sister, Paulette Whitley; 6 nieces; 3 nephews; as well as many dear friends, and her CHMS family.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 – 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Troy Daily officiating and Dr. Scott Jones will give the eulogy. A graveside service will follow in procession to Morning Star Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Church Hill Middle School lunch fund in Anna Ruth’s name.
