Betty Joyce Davis, 76, passed away on January 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Calton; and sister, Jan Harrell.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert Davis; children, Jerrilyn Gray and Jimbo Greer of Church Hill; sister, Jerry Isaacs and husband Paul of New Bern, NC; brother, Jeff Calton and wife Rhonda of Church Hill; brother-in-law, Dave Harrell of Surgoinsville. Joyce was a loving Grandmother to Austin Gray and Rebecca of Ooltewah, TN, Preston Gray of Chattanooga, TN, Dakota Greer and fiancé Olivia of Greeneville, TN. She was a very proud recent Great Grandmother to Ivy Joyce Greer.

Joyce graduated from Church Hill High School and went on to work at Holston Mills, before working at the Regional Eye Surgery Center where she retired after 20+ years. Joyce lived a very full life, remaining active in her church and community every moment she could. She was known to have a green thumb and being an extremely hard worker, known by all for always being on the go. Anyone who knew her would agree that her smile and love for life were contagious. She enjoyed cooking, making sourdough bread, and canning for her family and friends. She was also known for her eclectic style – she loved putting her own touch on things to make them fun and unique.

A memorial service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held for friends and family at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home in Church Hill on Wednesday, January 24 between 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jonathan Lovelace officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Church Hill Food Bank.

Joyce will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her loving spirit will remain with us all.
