KINGSPORT – David T. Powell, 57, of Kingsport, passed away Friday (September 24, 2016) at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.David was a lifelong resident of Sullivan and Hawkins counties and was of the Holiness faith. He was an accomplished bass player and skilled in several other instruments.He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Powell in 2006 and grandmother, Bessie Hankins.He is survived by one son, Rhett Powell and wife, Caroline, Fort Blackmore, VA; his mother, Marylin Powell, Kingsport; stepson, Bret Anderson, Gate City; one step grandson, Zachary Krajewski; and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home.Services will be conducted Monday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Troy Cutshaw officiating.Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M at New Bethel Cemetery in Greene County.
