Church Hill, TNElsie Kate Stapleton, age 85, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Church Hill Health Care & Rehab following an extended illness. Mrs. Stapleton was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was retired from J.C. Penney. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill, member of the FCE Club and Volunteered for the Wellmont Hospital for several years. She is preceded in death by her husband; Charles Stapleton, her parents; Willie and Elizabeth Fields, brothers; Grady Fields, Homer Fields, Robert Fields, sisters; Mary Lee Helton and Ethel Jeter. Survivors include her daughters; Doris Rutledge and husband, Gary of Seymour, TN, Kathy Larkins and husband, Bob of Mount Carmel, grandchildren; Josh Rutledge, Hayley Baumgardner, Sarah Tilley, Lindsey Jennings and Katie Belbey, 9 great grandchildren. Sister; Betty J. Carmack, brothers; Willie Fields, Jr. , Jack Fields and Shirley Frost, Earl Fields and wife, Jenny, Raymond Fields and wife, Judy, Kenneth Fields and wife, Pat and Roger Lynn Fields and wife, Rita, several nieces and nephews, and faithful friends Jane Carr and Shirley Linkous. Calling hours are from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Chris Crabtree officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 am Monday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with Josh Rutledge, Jonathan Jennings, Jonathan Tilley, Tim Belbey, Gale Rutledge and Jimmy Baumgardner serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10 am Monday morning to leave in procession to the cemetery.Our many thanks to the entire staff of the Church Hill Health Care for your compassion and kindness.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
