KINGSPORT – Esther J. Porter, 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father Monday (December 7, 2015) following a brief illness.Mrs. Porter was a native of Scott County, Virginia but had spent most of her life in Sullivan County. She attended Higher Ground Baptist Church. Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all.She is preceded in death by her parents, M. D. and Verda McConnell Keith, one brother, James Keith and sister, Fern Jennings Light.She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dr. Millard Porter, of the home; one daughter Linda Crawford and husband, Lowell, Mt. Juliet, TN; one son, Wayne Porter and wife, Jewell, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Kim Sheehan and husband, Jeff, John Crawford and friend, Rachael Grochowski; two great grandchildren, Keith and Lindsay Sheehan; two brothers, Carl Keith and wife, Doris, Gate City; Bill Keith and wife, Edna Mae, Ft. Blackmore; four sisters, Nanalee Carter, Sue Dillowe and husband, Edward, Elizabeth Jennings and husband, Bobby, all of Kingsport; Mary Ellen Hamilton and husband, Gary, Richmond, VA; several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Higher Ground Baptist Church and anytime at the residence of her son, Wayne Porter, 1076 Wellington Blvd., Kingsport.Services will be conducted Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Higher Ground Baptist Church with Dr. Millard Porter and Dr. Ronnie Owens officiating.Entombment services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.
