CHURCH HILL – Henry Lee Connell, 90, of Church Hill, passed away Monday (September 21, 2015) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.Mr. Connell was a native of Wise County, Virginia and had lived in Hawkins County since 1963. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and was a retired employee of AFG Industries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Gilliam Connell, his parents, Oscar and Nancy Standifer Connell, Sr., two sisters, Hazel Gilliam and Bertie Kindle, two half-sisters, Opal Boggs and Oma Jones; five brothers, Oscar Connell, Jr., Willie Connell, Carl Connell, Johnnie Connell and Cassie Connell.He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Gerena Connell, Lenoir, North Carolina, Gary and Valdene Connell, Church Hill, Roger and Jaynie Connell, Kingsport; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Powell Valley Cemetery Chapel in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.Military graveside will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Powell Valley Cemetery with Rev.
