Hunter Wyatt Lane, 28, of Fort Blackmore, VA, passed away December 12, 2023.

Hunter was born on August 29, 1995, to his parents, Phillip and Vicki Harris Lane. He graduated from Gate City High School in 2013 and earned an associate degree in Electricity at Northeast State Community College. He then attended King College for a Bachelor of Business Administration and he graduated from John A. Gupton Mortuary College to be a Funeral director in TN/VA. Hunter started his funeral home career at Carter-Trent Funeral home in 2013, and in February of 2017 he left and joined the staff at Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Hunter put everything he had into JA and made it into what it is today. Hunter was the founder and CEO of OriginLyfe.com, a dream he made into reality in 2021. He was so proud of how far the company had come and his vision for OriginLyfe was to make your loved one’s legacies last forever. Hunter was a member of Fincastle Masonic Lodge #33, Dungannon, VA. In his spare time (when he was not at the funeral home), he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, playing his guitar, and spending time with his fiancé McKensie and family. Hunter loved to travel, and he had actually spent the last few days with the love of his life, McKensie, at Universal Studios, the place he loved the most. He had a knack for making friends everywhere he went and had made many lifelong friends throughout his life and career including his Fort Camp Blackmore buddies. He was an avid New England Patriots, Vancouver Canucks, and Cincinnati Reds fan. Hunter had a lifelong love for wrestling, loved music and going to concerts. He loved to cook, and grill, and was a perfectionist at his cooking. Hunter devoted his life to helping others and putting others first. Hunter always said, “you treat a family like they are your family.”

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Hubert & Verna Harris, paternal grandparents Oscar Palmer and Tempa Lane, Aunt Rebecca Lane and several special great aunts and uncles, a very special friend and mentor Greg Lubrano.

Survivors are his parents, Phillip & Vicki Harris Lane; his sister, Kaitlan Lane Brooks (Craig); special niece, Pairlee Jane Brooks; special nephew, Mason Lane Brooks; uncle, Brian Harris (Christy); special cousins, Kailee & Morgan Harris; fiancé, McKensie McGee; his future in-laws, Scott McGee, Sherri Yates (Gary), Meghan & Cody Salyer; Godfather, Mikey Brickey; special great uncle, Larry Castle and Micheal “George” Kinkead; his best friend, partner and brother, Brian Arrowood and the entire Johnson-Arrowood family; special family member, Dr. Kevin Misischia; Harley the cat; and his companion and grief dog in training, Jimi.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home in Church Hill. Fincastle Lodge will be conducting the Masonic Rights following the visitation. A celebration of life service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Truman Ferguson, Pastor James Adams, and Pastor Evan Clark officiating. Special music will be provided by Issac Shockley, and Alston Sampson. A private graveside service will be held at Brickey Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Issac Shockley, Morgan Ward, Alston Sampson, Logan Gardener, Cody Salyer, Clint Duncan, Gordon Powers, and John Brickey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mack Edwards, Jacob Beaver, James Perry, Mike Hensley, Freddie Short, & staff of Johnson-Arrowood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fort Blackmore Center, 214 Big Stoney Creek Road, Fort Blackmore, VA. in Hunter’s name. Hunter loved this school and he and his family felt strongly about it.
