CHURCH HILL – John Charles Howerton, 75, passed away Tuesday (May 3, 2016) at Holston Valley Medical Center.Mr. Howerton was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Conoco Oil. He was a member King Masonic Lodge # 461, The Knoxville Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons and Jericho Shrine Temple.He is preceded in death by one infant daughter; his parents, John and Effie Love Howerton; brother Robert Howerton; great nephew, Eric Howerton.He is survived by his wife, Betty Holmes Howerton, Church Hill; one stepson, Jim Robinson, Johnson City; special nephew, Bob Howerton and wife, Sharon; great nieces and nephews, Britany Ragon and husband, John; Seth Howerton; great great nieces and nephews, Launa Howerton, Berkley Ragon and Asher Ragon; several cousins.Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Howerton and Rev. Mark Roberts officiating. A Masonic Memorial Service conducted by Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 will follow the funeral service.Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at McPheeters Bend Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Seth Howerton, Jim Robinson, Jordan Stallard, Johnny Dale Love, Mike Kilbourne and Mark Kilbourne.To leave an online message for the Howerton family, please visit us @ www.jfhonline.comJohnson-Arrowood Funeral Home is serving the Howerton family.
