Recently learned about the passing of John, with deepest sympathy to family. I remember John very well from our time at The Basic School and studying to become Marine Officers. Sincerely, Dick Bellesheim (TBS 4-65)

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. John was in our Marine Corps Basic School class, and we renewed our friendship after so many years trying to fit pieces together. It has not been easy for many of us. John was a good man and a good Marine and served well. He brought Ericka and John to our first reunion in 2002 and what a beautiful family. We enjoyed meeting them and they were so gracious to a bunch of old Marines. It was great. Farewell to John, and condolences from TBS 4-65 to John's family. Semper Fidelis.

My most sincere sympathies to Johnny's family. I went to Pocahontas High School and Johnny was 3 years ahead of me. He was part of that awesome class of 1958. I have so many memories of him and his brothers. As I watched his video he could be the poster for the USMC. He taught me in my Red Cross Lifeguard class. He was truly a nice guy. RIP Johnny. Another Poca Kid passes from us.

To John--Semper Fi. To his family--very sorry for your loss. John graduated high school a few years ahead of me. I have many good memories of him during high school. Later on we ran across each other during service with the Marines. Always proud and lucky to know him.

Ina and family. So very sorry and sad to hear of John's passing . I grew up with John in Pocahontasa and graduated from high school with John. My husband played football with him. He was a good friend. We will miss him. Love and prayers go out to all of you.

Dear Ina, John Paul, Veronica, Ericka, I am so sorry to hear about John and know his family will miss him greatly. He was a good man and so proud of his family. I haven't seen him in a while but remember his warm smile and kindness. We shared some good times in college and when I would visit at Camp Lejuene and in Church Hill. Carry him in your memories. May God bless each of you and your families. Cindy Thomas

Back in the day, when we were parents who supported TriCities Barracudas' swim team for 3 of our four sons, we first met John at poolside. He was a stalwart supporter and an all around fun person to know and enjoy. We are all a bit more diminished by his passing. So sorry for your loss.
