Church Hill, TN – Marie Moreland, age 87 of Church Hill passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Holston Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. Marie was a lifelong resident of Church Hill and was of the Baptist faith. She has really blessed me through the years, and God left her here with me and my sister after she was diagnosed with cancer when she was 27 years old. He had a plan, he knew we both needed someone to take care of us as babies growing up. She raised us both and cared for us even though she wasn’t our biological mother. She taught us about life and love, and I will really miss taking care of her and being there with her every day.She is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Albright, parents, Clyde & Rosa Sams, brothers, John Sams and Joe Sams, sisters, Helen Bradshaw, Gladys Compton, Hazel Rosenbalm and Marjorie Gentry, nephews, Joey Sams, Joey Albright, Dwayne Gentry and niece, Tisha Walters.Survivors include her daughter, Christian (Shirley) Sams and husband, Greg of Church Hill, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sister, Mary Marshall of Atlanta, GA.Calling hours are from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dewey Hickman officiating. Graveside service will be conducted 1 pm Tuesday at the Morning Star Cemetery with Lynn Bradshaw, Greg Sams, Mark Walters, Joel Sams, Jay Meade and Travis Meade serving as pallbearers.
