Church Hill, TN – Mary Rose Newland, age 79, of Church Hill went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 10, at her residence.Mary Rose was a teacher for Hawkins County Schools for 32 years. She impacted the lives of so many young people, and everywhere she went she was approached by someone telling her what she had meant to them in those early years. She was an active member of the McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church for many years fulfilling positions of the church such as, Sunday School Class Teacher, Women on Mission President, and numerous committees where her wisdom and integrity were of such value. Mary Rose was an encourager, and she lived her life fully behind the scenes doing many good deeds only God knew of. She saw to minister to other people’s trials and reached out to them in love and much prayer. Her purpose in this life was to minister to others and love and care for her family. She was a friend to many and a confidant you could always depend on and trust. She judged no one and forgave willingly.She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Newland, parents, Marvin and Margaret Simpson Housewright, stepfather, Jimmy Neal Housewright, special brother-in-law, Rev. Willie Joe Snapp, and nephews, Mike and Daniel Snapp. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Bob) Kauffman, Kelly (Milburn) Riner, Jeanie Marsh, grandchildren, Mandy (Scott) Sweigart, Tyler (Kaycee) Riner, Megan (Peden) Templeton, Bradley Kauffman, Morgan Riner, Matt Simpson, great grandchildren, Kaeson Chatman, David Allen Sweigart, and one unborn precious baby of Megan and Peden Templeton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by her very special sister, Jane Snapp, of which were inseparable in life and made even the ordinary days into a fun and lasting memory.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 13th from 4 to 7 pm at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Pastors Mark Roberts and Heath Smith officiating. Graveside services will be on Monday, December 14th at 11:00 am at McPheeters Bend Cemetery.
