ROGERSVILLE – Melissa Ann Barker, 56, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.

Melissa was born in Kokomo, Indiana to her parents Harold Manis and Shirley Foster. She grew up in Kokomo and moved to Hawkins County where she met her late husband, Glenn. She was a sweet caring woman, wonderful mother, and grandmother who loved taking care of her family. Melissa had a heart of gold, always doing for others before herself.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Barker; daughter, Terra Barker; and brothers, Junior, and Tracy Manis.

She is survived by her daughter, Shawna Barker Hall; granddaughters, Cheyenne Caps and Brianna Bloomer; grandsons, Jonathan, and Nathaniel Hall; nieces, Loretta Barker Depew, Crystal Barker, Hannah Hacker, Tonya, Crystal, and Shannon Manis; special sisters-in-law, Helen Barker, and Penny Barker; nephews, Samuel, and Andrew Obermeyer; great niece and nephew; Christa Hurd and Brandon Depew, as well as many extended family members and many dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Coffey Cemetery in the Pressman’s Home Community of Rogersville. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home to assist the family with the funeral expenses.

Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill is honored to serve the Barker family.
