CHURCH HILL – Mennie Staples, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mennie was born in Kingsport on June 17, 1936, to George and Betty Ward. She was a lifelong resident of Church Hill. Mennie was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and especially with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Staples; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mennie is survived by her daughter, Pam Kettinger of Kingsport; sons, Clayton Davis, Jr. of Kingsport and Gerald Davis of Johnson City; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Minister Katrina Hensley officiating. The burial will follow to Bowser Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Barrett, Jason Vance, Riley Kettinger, Clayton Davis, Jr., Gerald Davis, and Clayton Davis III. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Barrett, Caden Barrett, Keytin Cook, and Alden Reece.
