CHURCH HILL – Nell Carter Eaton, 96, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Wexford House.

Nell was born in Scott County but was a lifelong resident of Church Hill. She was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening. She was famous for making apple butter and giving it away. She was the last survivor of 9 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eaton who passed away in 2003; parents, Coy and Inez Hartsock Carter; brothers, Wayne, Raymond, and Lawrence Carter; sisters, Beulah Eaton, Effie Broadwater, Ruth Ketron, and 2 infant sisters.

Nell is survived by her daughters, Peggy Moore and Wanda Eaton; grandchildren, Jeremy Moore, Loree Taylor (Tim), and Marty Moore (Sha); great grandchildren, Charlee Rain Taylor, Meghan Moore, and Matthew Moore; good friend, Rosa Farthing; several nieces, nephews, and special neighbors.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21 at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Jim Mullins officiating. Music will be provided by True Faith Quartet. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM.
