Church Hill, TNOma G. Head, age 88 of Church Hill passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Asbury Place in Kingsport following an extended illness. Mrs. Head was born in Coeburn, VA and had lived in Kingsport before moving to Church Hill 38 years ago. She was employed many years at Grossett and Dunlap Publishers in Kingsport, and retired from the accounting department from the AFG Corporate Office in Kingsport after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kingsport, and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Church Hill. She enjoyed her retirement traveling with her husband all over the United States and spending the winters in Florida.She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Richardson and Fannie Kennedy Richardson, brother, Quinton, sisters, Edna, Irene, Beurita and Esther.Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years Gene Head of the home, Son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandra Tucker of Gray, TN, Step-son, Gary Head of Kingsport, Step-daughter, Phyllis Stimes of Johnson City, TN, Granddaughter, Erica McMurray and husband, Travis, Great grandsons, Preston McMurray and wife, Kristen, Landon McMurray, 4 step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren, sister, Ada Carpenter of Rogersville, and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 2 to 4 pm Sunday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 4 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Derek Bell officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1 pm Monday at the East Lawn Cemetery.
