Master Sgt. Charles (Sarge) Raymond Mayo BULLS GAP- Master Sgt. Charles (Sarge) Raymond Mayo, passed away on Monday (January 21, 2013) at the VA Medical Center following an extended illness. He proudly served his God and country with pride. He was a retired Military Police Officer of the US 345 MP Co. Mr. Mayo was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Southern Style Voks Club, and partners in S&S Show Cars with R. Sonny Brooks. Charles was a member of Speedwell Church and a 1958 Graduate of Church Hill High School. He graduated with an Associate’s Degree from ETSU. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Mayo and Hazel Bombailey Little, sister, Nora A. Gillenwater, and nephew, R. Kirk Gillenwater. He is survived by his three daughters; Kelli J. Mayo Heacock and her husband, Keith of Indiana, Tracie M. Bradley and her husband, C. Frank of Alabama, Shawna L. Rust and her husband, Jeffrey B. of Texas, nephew, Russell L. Gillenwater, brother-in-law, R. Thomas Gillenwater and wife, Terri G. of Saint Claire, TN, 11 grandchildren; Alisha Green, Lindsay Heacock, Randy Heacock, Shawn Heacock, Robert Wardlow, Renee Maddox, Jonathan Ballenger, both of Alabama, Joshua Welch of Mississippi, Dominick Rust, Addison Rust, Vanessa Rust, all of Texas, and 11 great grandchildren. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Military Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday at Hamblen County Memorial Gardens. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 P.M. Pallbearers will be Keith Heacock, Robert Wardlow, Jeffrey Rust, Sonny Brooks, Paul Marsh, Tommy Gillenwater, Russell Gillenwater, and Kenny Wheeler.
