Renald Domond, age 79 of Bristol, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2023, after a long battle involving a variety of health issues.

Renald was born on August 20, 1944, in Jacmel Haiti, to the late Clement Domond, and Orista Domond. During his lifetime, he was known for being very kind and compassionate concerning the needs of others. Rather than ignore, and pretend to be unaware of another person’s hardship, he made himself readily available to those in need. Following the passing of his dad, he took on the responsibility for attending to the needs of his mother, and younger siblings. In 1969, he fulfilled a lifelong dream in moving to the United States, where he took residence in Brooklyn, NY. Renald worked a variety of jobs, to include working at the Grand Central Station. While employed at Grand Central Station, he met Joan who would later become his wife. Their loving matrimony would span a period of more than 40 years. In the early 1980’s Renald and Joan relocated to Chicago, Illinois, to be closer to Joan’s mother. Renald found employment at O’Hare International Airport, where his hard-work ethic led to a management position. After approximately thirty years of dedicated service, he retired with honors. Renald and Joan then returned to her hometown, where they built their dream home. Renald’s kind gestures earned him the affectionate nickname “Mr. Sweet Potato” due to the potatoes he harvested and shared with others. Renald was loved by many throughout Church Hill, and Kingsport, TN for his kindness.

Renald is survived by his big brother Andre Domond, his younger brother Joseph Domond, and his baby sister Anita Apoleon. He also leaves behind his eldest son Pierre Richard, and his youngest son Jeffrey Domond. Renald is also survived by six grandchildren: Salina Domond, Anastasia Domond, Aneyah Domond, Arita Domond, Jeffrey Jr. Domond (Marie Sabine Auguste), and Xavier Domond.

Renald was a devout Catholic, and an active member of his local parish. He found solace and strength in his faith. In his free time, Renald enjoyed gardening and small construction projects. He had a “green thumb,” and took great pleasure in attending to his garden. Renald will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, compassion and hard-work ethic will be remembered and cherished by those whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to visit and celebrate Renald’s life from 11:00-1:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM to Church Hill Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A Repass will be held at Golden Corral in Kingsport at 2:30 PM.
