Church Hill, TN Sidney Theodore Thompson, Jr., age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the James H. Quillen V.A. Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness. Sidney was born in Waynesboro, VA and had lived in Baltimore, MD for several years. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Sgt. with 21 years of service. He was a member of Arnold's Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney & Audrey Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Agnes Thompson and his great grandson, C.J. Jackson, Sister, Joan Douglas of Maryland, loving daughter, Carol Dryden of Maryland, sons, Edward Thompson of Maryland, Donald Dryden and wife, Valerie of Piney Flats, TN, Barry Thompson and wife, Linda, David Thompson, Larry Thompson and wife, Terry, daughters, Cindy, Sheryl and Kay all of Baltimore, MD. 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pete Smith officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard and Tennessee National Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Dryden, David Thompson, Barry Thompson, Charles Jackson, Chris Jackson, Marcus Lander, J.B. Mowell and Mike Jones. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Arnold's Holiness Church, C/O Barbara Linkous, 159 Sturbridge Lane, Church Hill, TN 37642 or to the charity of your choice.
