Mt. Carmel – Vernon Delano Snapp 82, passed away on Friday (November 13, 2015) at his residence. After battling an illness for over a year.Vernon was born in Upper Possum Creek, Gate City, VA. In 1951 he volunteered for the Army and served in the Vietnam and Korean War. In 1971 he retired from the Military as a Sergeant E-7. After retiring from the Army he settled in Mt. Carmel to start his family. Vernon worked for Eastman until he retired due to illness. He attended the New Fellowship Ministries Baptist Church, and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.He is preceded in death by his parents; John Samuel Snapp and Stella Robinette Snapp, sisters; Edna Snapp Grimm and Bessie Snapp, brothers; John Robert Snapp, Kyle Snapp, Ernest Snapp, Dean Snapp and Everett Snapp.He is survived by his wife Tina Snapp, Mount Carmel. His two daughters Crystal Snapp Dockery, Church Hill and Coral Snapp Brown, Kingsport. He has one grandchild Epic Snapp. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00PM-7:00PM. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev Dave White officiating.The military graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday 3:00 PM at Church Hill Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the American legion Post 3/265 Honor Guard.Meeting at Johnson Funeral Home Tuesday by 2:00PM to go in procession to cemetery.Per the family request they will not take visitors at their home.
