Waymon Earl Hicks, age 77, of Church Hill, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Earl was a lifelong resident of McPheeters Bend Community of Church Hill and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Barloworld Handling company with 25 years of service, he was a CB Radio enthusiast with the call name “Sidewinder”.He is preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Hicks and Nancy Gray Hicks, brother, William Hicks and sisters, Charlotte Hicks and Linda Hicks.Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy Sexton Hicks of the home, sons, Jason Hicks and wife, Tamara that he always referred to as the daughter he never had of Church Hill, Bill Hicks and wife, Shalina of Dandridge, grandchildren his pride and joy, Gaelen, Dakota, Abbie and Daegan and his sister, Wanda Rose (Polly) Hicks of Church Hill.Calling hours are from 12 to 2 pm Sunday at the Johnson – Arrowood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Grimes officiating. Burial will follow at the McPheeters Bend Cemetery with Hawkins County Color Guard & American Legion Posts 3/265 Honor Guard presenting the flag.
