MOUNT CARMEL – William J. (Bill) Grimes, Jr., age 92, of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Holston Valley Hospital. Mr. Grimes was a lifelong resident of Sullivan and Hawkins Counties, and had worked for Hecks Bakery for several years before retiring from Roberts Tire and Recapping. He was a member of the Clay Masonic Lodge #386, Knoxville Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons, and Jericho Shrine Temple and was Past President of the Rogersville Shrine Club. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Mount Carmel.He is preceded in death by his wife; Maude Taylor Grimes, parents; William J, Grimes, Sr. and Nova Jane Booher Grimes, brothers; Harold Edward Grimes, Kenneth Miller Grimes and his sister; Frances Bowlin.Survivors include his sons; Robert (Bob) Grimes and wife, Kay, Rev. Ronald Grimes and wife, Margie, daughter; Joyce Jones. 8 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Brother; George Grimes, sisters; Edna Odell, Sara Odell and Nancy Flick.Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Carmel. Services will be conducted 7 pm Friday at the church with Dr. Randy Pressnel officiating. Masonic services will be conducted Friday following the funeral services with Clay Masonic Lodge #386 officiating.Graveside services will be conducted 11 am Saturday at the Liberty Hill Cemetery with Rev. Eric Counts officiating with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
